And a new weblog was born

So, after a long, long time, I have a weblog again. This time it’s powered by Google App Engine, Django and Disqus.

I chose GAE, because it has proven to be an environment on which I can quickly deploy, as I had some experiences from developing 词板砖.

For the ease of writing a web-application I used the great Google App Engine Patch, which makes developing a Django application on top of GAE a breeze.

Finally I decided to settle with comments on Disqus. I don’t think I have enough time to roll and especially maintain my own comment system. Sure Disqus isn’t perfect, but for the time it costs to integrate it into the page and the benefits it yields it is truly great!

The admin interface isn’t polished at all. But that’s only visible to me, so it’s not a big problem. The markdown+typogrify combination yields beautiful typography too. More about “typogrify” can be found over here at Jeff Croft.

Finally I hope I can provide a working rss feed soon.
