Ending Procrastination

As of today I’ve decided to quit my procrastination habit. I’ve kept it far too long already. So far I have deleted the hacker news and reedit apps, as well as pulse, fluid, epsilon from my iPad and iPhone.

For the future I will stick only with twitter, facebook, linkedIn as well as reeder and instapaper.

Tomorrow I will block reddit and hackernews as well as other unnecessary time consuming websites from the my networks.

Furthermore I will double check those I follow on twitter and unfollow everyone, whom I can unfollow without great pain. This will be in line with my already very aggressive ignoring on facebook.

I still think that reeder is a very great tool. And I love read it later for the opportunity to let me just cue articles up I would like to read but have not time for right now. I often check my feeds in the morning with reeder and read queued articles late in the evening before sleep.

Furthermore I will make more use of iA Writer, which is an extremely beautiful and distraction free app. I am even using it now to write the draft for this post. On the desktop I will use Notational Velocity (ALT) more for note taking. I would really love to have nvALT and iA Writer work seamlessly together.

On the chat side, which is quite important to me I will stick with Skype and only Skype.

Learning languages will from now on be time boxed more aggressively and I’m unite happy with the time boxing feature of Anki. I’m not particularly happy with Anki but that is better dealt with in a separate post.
